THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) is intensifying its anti-crime efforts by deploying more police patrols to identified crime hotspots.

The directive came from Col Mannan C. Muarip, acting city director, who met with 19 station commanders on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2025, to reinforce the new strategy.

During the command conference at the DCPO headquarters, Muarip emphasized the importance of “sectoring,” a strategy that ensures patrollers are deeply familiar with their specific patrol beat areas.

He stressed that field officers, not office staff, must be on the streets.

He also ordered mobile patrollers assigned to fixed visibility points to actively engage with the community, build rapport with local businesses, and gather information.

Muarip stated that this hands-on approach will not only boost police visibility but also strengthen intelligence gathering, operating under the principle that “the higher the intervention, the lower the crime rate.”

“Increased presence and proactive engagement are key to deterring criminal activity and improving public safety,” he said.

Muarip advised station commanders to assess their units’ strengths and weaknesses, noting that strong leadership is crucial in solving crimes and building disciplined teams.
