THE CITY government has allocated ₱60 million to support key events such as the Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan and floral float parade, as well as various cultural and community activities, for the Kadayawan Festival 2025, Davao’s premier annual celebration, set to take place from Aug. 7 to 17.

The festival, which honors the city’s rich cultural heritage, bountiful harvests, and the unity of its indigenous tribes, continues to be a key event in Davao’s cultural calendar.

Local artists and cultural communities will be fairly compensated, with a strong emphasis on equitable treatment in comparison to commercial performers and invited guests.

Atty. Jonah Margarette Presto, acting head of the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO), emphasized that compensation is determined by the festival’s executive committee, ensuring that all performers are paid fairly for their participation.

“As in past festivals, compensation is determined by the executive committee, ensuring that all performers are paid fairly for their participation,” she explained.

In addition to the P60 million budget from the city government, the private sector is expected to raise approximately ₽14 million through sponsorships. This combined funding reflects the city’s continued commitment to preserving and promoting indigenous culture while also supporting local talent.

Officials are confident that the 2025 Kadayawan Festival will continue to be a vibrant celebration of Davao’s cultural identity and its people’s enduring spirit of unity.
