VALENCIA City formally declared the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) as persona non grata on Sept. 22, 2025.

The declaration, held in Barangay Sugod, was a firm demonstration of the city’s commitment to ending local communist armed conflict.

The event was led by First Lieutenant John Andrew S. Gloriani, Commanding Officer of Alpha Company, 89th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, alongside local officials and community leaders.

A highlight of the ceremony was the symbolic burning of the CPP-NPA flag, a powerful representation of unity against terrorism and rebellion. Atty. Francesco Manuel R. Valdez, City Legal Officer, representing Mayor Amie G. Galario, emphasized the local government’s strong political will to uphold peace and security.

This milestone marks the eighth barangay in Valencia City to issue such a declaration, significantly strengthening the city’s overall peace drive.

Guided by the whole-of-nation approach, Valencia continues to serve as a model for how good governance and robust community partnership can dismantle communist terrorist influence and pave the way for sustainable peace and development.
