A POLICE officer was arrested on Sunday evening after he allegedly shot and killed his live-in partner and wounded her mother during a dispute in Purok 11, Bonifacio Bataan Street, Barangay Zone 3, Digos City.
According to the report from the Digos City Police Station, the incident occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Aug. 31, 2025.
The suspect was identified as Patrolman Dinoy, 30, currently assigned to the Hagonoy Municipal Police Station (MPS).
The victims were his live-in partner, 30-year-old Joy, a virtual assistant, and her mother, 50-year-old Mirla, a Barangay health worker.
Initial investigation revealed that the suspect, who was allegedly intoxicated, arrived at the residence with his daughter.
A heated argument erupted between the couple, which ended with the suspect allegedly drawing his issued firearm and shooting the victim multiple times.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s mother, who was also present, sustained a gunshot wound during the incident and was rushed to the Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital (DSPH) by concerned citizens.
Following the shooting, the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended by responding police officers.
Crime scene investigators recovered ten fired cartridge cases and seven deformed fired bullets at the scene.
Meanwhile, the victim’s body has been brought to the Good Life Chapel.
