THE SEARCH and rescue operation continues for three people who remain missing following a flash flood that already claimed four lives at Asik-Asik Falls in Baguio District on Sunday, Sept. 14.

In an interview, Alfredo Baloran, Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) head, said they found the bodies two girls on Monday morning.

They were among the seven individuals who were swept away by rising waters in the river.

According to the latest list from the City Information Office, four bodies have been retrieved so far:

  1. A 47-year-old male resident of Tamayong, Calinan District
  2. A 12-year-old female resident of Barangay Buhangin
  3. An 11-year-old male resident of Tamayong
  4. A 29-year-old female resident of Buhangin

The incident happened on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 14, when a sudden surge of water trapped 19 people at the falls. The search and rescue team is still working to locate the remaining five missing individuals.

Baloran confirmed that all activities at Asik-Asik Falls have been banned since 2023. He reiterated the local government’s standing order prohibiting the public from visiting the area due to safety concerns.
