THE DAVAO Drag Racing Association (DDRA) kicked off on July 11, setting a new course geared toward road safety and driving discipline advocacies for drag racing and local car enthusiasts.

DDRA president Elben Pang highlighted that the launch not only provides a platform to hold legal drag races in Davao City for those who are eager to partake in the exhilarating activities, but also focuses more on safe driving practices and responsibilities.

Key representatives from Davao City Sports Office, Public Safety and Security Office, City Transport and Traffic Management Office, Davao City Police Office, and the Traffic Enforcement Unit participated at the event to share their messages on defensive driving as well as to recognize drag racing as a sport where racers can gather, engage, and show their passion for thrilling rides.

Pang hopes DDRA’s direction will change its image, so the city government acknowledges its members, particularly in organizing legitimate races and car events.

Upcoming races for Davao City, namely the “First DDRA 1/9 Miles Drag Racing Competition,” will take place from July 19 to 20 at Ciudades Business Park, Mandug, with racers coming from Cagayan de Oro, Butuan, General Santos City, and Iligan.

The “2025 Hot August Races 1/8 Mile Legal Drag Racing Event” was also announced with new categories of Diesel and Electric Vehicle (EV) set for August 23 to 24, also to be held at Ciudades.

Fans of drag racing may also avail of a one-year ID membership of DRRA, which includes a 10% discount.
