SENATOR Rodante Marcoleta recently met with Japanese human rights activist Shunichi Fujiki in Japan to discuss the International Criminal Court (ICC) case involving former President Rodrigo Duterte.

The meeting, organized by the Republic Defenders for Peace and Unity, focused on the role of the Filipino community and the Japanese House of Councilors in an upcoming conference.

The meeting aimed to clarify the legal issues surrounding the former president to the Japanese public.

According to a report from SMNI News Japan, organizers are considering an invitation for Sen. Marcoleta to speak before 40 to 50 members of the Japanese Parliament.

The proposed briefing would allow the Senator to explain the perspective of the former administration regarding the ICC proceedings.

The collaboration marks an intensified effort by supporters of the former president to gather international parliamentary support and provide a counter-narrative to the ICC’s investigations in the Philippines.
