A 21-YEAR-OLD man was apprehended on Wednesday afternoon for the alleged possession of P900,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes and for violating the Graphic Health Warning Law (R.A. 10643).

The suspect, identified as Javier, a resident of Muslim Village, Barangay Sasa, was arrested at 3:14 p.m. on Oct. 8, 2025, in front of the Grand Gulf establishment at Km. 11, Sasa.

Personnel from the Davao City Special Operations Group, led by PCMS Allan Po, were conducting monitoring and anti-criminality surveillance in the area when they intercepted the vehicle.

Patrolman Hanginon caught Javier in flagrante delicto (in the act of committing the crime) as he was allegedly unloading cartons of smuggled cigarettes from a minivan with plate number MBH 9136.

Authorities confiscated 15 master cases of smuggled cigarettes, with an estimated total market value of P900,000. The contraband is now under the custody of the CSOG office.

Javier faces a charge of violating the Graphic Health Warning Law, which penalizes the sale, distribution, or manufacture of cigarettes that fail to display the required graphic health warnings.
