WHO WOULD have thought that a sophisticated lifestyle hub would open on this 25-hectare waterfront property, once one of the country’s largest plywood manufacturing facilities?
Azuela High Street, located at the heart of Azuela Cove—a joint venture between real estate giant Ayala Land and Davao-based The Alcantara Group of Companies—officially opened on Sept. 26.

Billed as “Bright Beginnings,” the event marked the ceremonial launch and Christmas lighting of Azuela High Street, attended by Alsons Group chairman Nicasio Alcantara and vice chairman Editha Alcantara, Ayala Corporation chairman Jaime Augusto Miranda Zóbel de Ayala and vice-chair Fernando Zobel de Ayala, Ayala Land Inc. president and CEO Meean Dy, along with key members of the Zobel, Alcantara, and Floirendo families, and valued merchants.

“Eight years ago, the vision for what you see here began. Today, we see a beautiful place. We hope Azuela High Street will stand as a vibrant landmark reflecting the enduring spirit of our partnership as well as the aspirations of all Dabawenyos,” said Alsons Group Vice chairman Editha I. Alcantara in her speech.

Apart from The Tent at Azuela Cove, a 2,000-square-meter events space that has hosted various national and international events, Azuela High Street is home to diverse businesses, including dining options like The Matcha Tokyo, Café Basilico, Hao Tang, Yoh Froz, and Gringo; wellness and beauty services like Lash in the City, Baker Medical Aesthetics, and FINE Dentistry; and retail brands such as Adidas and New Balance.

“What makes Azuela High Street special is its inclusivity—a place for families, friends, and even pets. We welcome everyone to our open spaces, shaped by lush landscapes and our Mindanao-inspired plazas. We’ve preserved trees, installed a water harvesting facility to advance sustainability, and created public art spaces to spark joy and build community,” said Jennylle S. Tupaz, Ayala Land Senior Estate Development head for Central Luzon and Visayas-Mindanao estates.
Tupaz added, “Azuela High Street takes its vision further”, inspired by Bonifacio High Street in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), but “proudly Davao’s own.”
Azuela Cove also features other key developments, including The Residences, The Seaside Promenade, The Shops, and GCenter, enhancing its role as a premier lifestyle destination.
