IN THE program “Spirituality in Daily Life” held at The Courtyard, Chateau Veronica in Davao City on July 10, Sister Maureen Chen, Member of the Brahma Kumaris Council of National Coordinators and who has been practicing Raja Yoga since 1977, said that while most religions emphasize on fear and worship of God, spirituality is about having a loving relationship with Him.

She pointed out that meditation comes from the Latin word, “medire,” which means “to heal” and “yoga” means link, union, or connection. Thus, meditation or yoga – the connection with God, who is incorporeal and constant – is a practice that heals us from past traumas and negativity and empowers us to become virtuous.

On July 9, 2025, at Camp General Manuel Yan Sr., Mawab, Davao de Oro, personnel of the 10th Infantry Division, AFP, attended the session held with the topic “Healthy Mind, Healthy Life. Sister Maureen spoke to more than 160 face-to-face and 200 online participants.

The session highlighted the vital connection between mental wellness and overall health, particularly in the demanding environment of military service

On the same day, Sister Maureen Chen was the resource person in a symposium on “Self-Managing Leadership for Resilient Governance” at Tagum City Hall for more than one hundred LGU departments and division heads. The session focused on enhancing personal leadership through self-awareness, emotional regulation, and time management, empowering participants to lead with clarity, purpose, and integrity.

Sister Maureen has also established KILT, a social enterprise for people affected by land mines in Cambodia. Living in Asia for thirty-two years, she is instrumental in setting up and sustaining Brahma Kumaris Centres throughout Asia.
