THE APPEALS chamber of the International Criminal Court (ICC) has officially scheduled the delivery of its judgment regarding the jurisdiction challenge in the case of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

In a scheduling order dated April 2, 2026, Presiding Judge Luz del Carmen Ibáñez Carranza announced that the judgment will be delivered in open court on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 11 a.m. (Central European Time).

The upcoming ruling follows an appeal by the defense against a previous decision by Pre-Trial Chamber I, which had challenged the Court’s authority to proceed with the case.

This judgment is a pivotal moment in the proceedings, as it will determine whether the ICC maintains the jurisdiction to continue its investigation into the Philippines’ “war on drugs.”

The session will be held at the seat of the Court in The Hague and is expected to be broadcast live via the ICC’s official website.
