THE EASTERN Mindanao Command (EastMinCom), through the 39th Infantry Battalion (39IB) under the 1002nd Infantry Brigade, recovered two M16 rifles during a recent focused military operation at Sitio Lacobe, Barangay Malabuan, Makilala, North Cotabato.
The recovered high-powered firearms are believed to have belonged to the dismantled Guerilla Front (DGF) “ALIP” of the Far South Mindanao Region (FSMR) and reportedly abandoned in late 2020.
The recovery is part of the Philippine Army’s sustained efforts to eliminate remaining threats from lawless elements and to preserve peace and security in the region. It likewise highlights the continuing cooperation and trust among security forces, former rebels, and peace stakeholders.
The EastMinCom reiterated its call for the remaining members of armed groups to lay down their arms, return to the fold of the law, and take advantage of the government’s reintegration programs, so they could live normal lives.
