THE EASTERN Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) delivered community service on Dec 4, through the conduct of a heartfelt Christmas gift-giving activity for the beneficiaries of the House of Hope Foundation for Kids with Cancer, Inc.

The annual outreach event was held at the foundation’s shelter within the Southern Philippine Medical Center compound, bringing together uniformed personnel and staff dedicated to supporting young cancer warriors and their families.

The EastMinCom contingent was led by Lieutenant Colonel Joel Mejia, the deputy assistant chief of Unified Command Staff (DACUCS) for Civil-Military Operations, U7.

The activity featured the distribution of toys, food, and other items to the children, their families, and the dedicated House of Hope staff.

In his message, Mejia emphasized that the EastMinCom extends far beyond its security mandate. He stressed the importance of fostering compassion and solidarity with the communities they serve, especially those facing immense challenges.

“We want these children to feel that they are not alone—that the Armed Forces stands with them, prays with them, and celebrates with them,” Mejia stated.

“Every smile we see today inspires us to continue serving with empathy, courage, and heart.”

The event reflects the command’s unwavering commitment to community engagement and its advocacy for vulnerable sectors, reminding the young patients that they are cherished, supported, and remembered during the Christmas season.
