THE DEPARTMENT of Tourism (DOT) XI has recorded a total of 2,897,168 overnight travelers in the first to third quarter of 2025, which is driven mainly by domestic tourism.
“This domestic market provided stability to tourism enterprises and destinations across the region, allowing the industry to grow,” DOT XI regional director Tanya Rabat-Tan said during a stakeholders gathering on Jan 22.
Rabat-Tan said private sector initiatives played a significant role through expanded airline services, improved accommodation facilities, enhanced tourism, and the development of innovative tour products.
Peace and order also reinforced Davao’s reputation as a safe and reliable destination for visitors.
Both domestic and international arrivals presented consistent growth throughout 2025, with the highest volume recorded in the first quarter, supported by the continued operation and expansion of air routes.
“This upward trend underscores enhanced air connectivity and the region’s rising competitiveness and strengthening appeal in global markets,” she said.
Davao Region’s top 10 foreign markets in 2025 (first to third quarter) are the USA, China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, India, Canada, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Germany.
As of Dec 31, 2025, a total of 383 accredited primary tourism enterprises were registered in the region, mostly accommodation establishments, as well as 58 accredited secondary tourism enterprises, with the majority being restaurants.
Twelve exhibits and expos, comprising regional and international travel and trade, were also conducted, engaging more than 100 stakeholders.
