THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) joined local government leaders in commemorating the 95th National Heroes Day at Osmeña Park on Monday morning, Aug. 31.
DCPO director PCOL Peter B. Madria led police personnel and joined the city government, led by Vice Mayor Rigo Duterte, in paying tribute to the historical sacrifices of Filipino freedom fighters, linking their patriotic legacy to the modern duty of safeguarding public safety and regional peace.
The morning rites, held at the corner of C.M. Recto and San Pedro streets, featured traditional wreath-laying honors alongside representatives from partner government agencies and civic organizations.
In his statement, Madria said that honoring historical heroes requires continuous dedication to public service, community safety, and the rule of law.
“Remembering the valor of past generations serves as a reminder to uphold patriotism, unity, and service in our daily work,” Madria said, highlighting the shared responsibility between law enforcement and the citizenry in maintaining a secure city.
The DCPO command said the annual commemoration reinforces the police force’s commitment to collaborative security, working alongside local government units and community force multipliers to preserve Davao City’s status as a peaceful urban center.
