THE EASTERN Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) successfully hosted its first-ever EMC Reservist Challenge from July 11 to 13, bringing together nearly 100 reservists for a rigorous three-day event at the Naval Station Felix Apolinario in Panacan.
The challenge drew participants from various reserve units, including the 10th, 11th, and 15th Regional Community Defense Groups (RCDG), the Naval Reserve Center – Eastern Mindanao (NRCEN-EM), and the 7th and 8th Air Reserve Centers (ARCEN).
The program was meticulously designed to assess and improve individual skills, strength, endurance, and tactical strategy while simultaneously fostering a stronger sense of camaraderie, resilience, and unity among reservists operating within EastMinCom’s joint operational area.
EastMinCom emphasized that the activity underscores the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) steadfast commitment to enhancing reserve force development through demanding tactical exercises.
These initiatives aim to refine the skills, physical prowess, leadership capabilities, and teamwork of reservists from diverse units across Eastern Mindanao, ultimately bolstering their readiness and cohesion as an integral part of the total force.
Commodore Dwight Steven M. Dulnoan PN, Deputy Commander of EastMinCom, lauded the participants during the awarding ceremony.

He highlighted that the challenge reflects the evolving role and increasing significance of the Reserve Force, showcasing their readiness, relevance, and expanding contributions in the current dynamic security landscape.
“Our Reserve Force is the living bridge between our civilian society and our armed forces – a testament to patriotism, professionalism, and the power of individuals who hold many duties for the good of the country,” Commodore Dulnoan stated.
“This challenge was designed with clear objectives in mind, and I am incredibly proud to say that you have not only met but truly exceeded every single one. The bonds forged here, under pressure and through shared triumph, are not just fleeting moments; they are lasting connections that will undoubtedly strengthen our collective force for years to come,” he added, emphasizing the lasting impact of the shared experience.
