THE GROUP Hakbang ng Maisug is organizing a peaceful rally at the EDSA Shrine on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, to protest against what it calls “massive corruption and looting of public funds” under the Marcos administration.

The group, which has been advocating for “transparency, accountability, peace, and security” since March 2024, is urging all Filipinos, regardless of political beliefs, to unite and support their cause.

Hakbang ng Maisug, which has links to former President Rodrigo Duterte, stated that while the journey to a graft-free country is “arduous,” it sees a “silver lining” as more Filipinos are coming together.

The rally is a “call to unite against corruption and abuse” and is meant to be a show of collective voice.

Organizers said they “will not stop until the dark forces that lord over and oppress our people will be held accountable for the sufferings they have inflicted on our people.”

The decision to hold the rally at the EDSA Shrine is symbolic, as the location is historically significant in the fight against a past administration.

Meanwhile, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has reminded rallyists to secure permits.

Pro-Duterte and anti-Marcos groups have held rallies at the EDSA Shrine before, to express criticism against the current administration and its handling of issues like high food prices.
