THE DAVAO dining scene just got a significant upgrade, wrapped in luxury and spiced with philanthropy.

We recently had the pleasure of indulging in a sumptuous fine dining experience at Dusit Thani Davao’s Benjarong Restaurant, as part of the highly exclusive Globe Platinum Signature Dining Series 2025 dubbed “Gastronome Giving” (Second Run: September 1 – November 30, 2025).

This special initiative, aptly titled “Gastronome Giving,” doesn’t just offer exquisite cuisine; it ties high-end gastronomy to the commendable goal of fighting hunger through Globe’s The Hapag Movement.

The Platinum Privilege: “Tales of Thai”

The evening was dedicated to “Tales of Thai,” Benjarong’s special seven-course journey into the finest flavors of Thailand.

The ambiance, defined by Benjarong’s sophisticated Thai décor and Dusit Thani’s attentive service, perfectly sets the stage for a culinary adventure.

Each dish was not merely food, but a beautifully plated work of art:

“Tom Yum Goong” was the perfect fiery, fragrant start—a traditional Thai Spicy & sour shrimp soup that instantly awakened the palate.

The journey continued with the appetizer, “Satay Gai” (Marinated chicken skewer), which was beautifully tender and complemented by rich, southern-style peanut sauce.

A standout was the refreshing “Yam Pla Dook-Fu,” featuring crispy Catfish flake balanced by tart green Mango, Cashew nut, and a potent chili & lime dressing.

Highlights of the Main Courses

The depth of Thai flavor shone through in the main courses:

The decadent “Massaman Nua” was an unforgettable experience: Southern Thai-spiced coconut curry, accompanied by 16-hour slow-cooked USDA beef—a testament to patient preparation.

The “Gang Luang Goong” (Yellow Curry shrimps with fresh herbs) offered a bright, herbaceous counterpoint.

The savory selection was rounded out by the “Gai Yang Nam – Jim Jiew” (Grilled marinated chicken with Herbs Tamarind dip) and the crispy, citrusy “Pla Thod Yam Takrai” (Crispy fried Mahi-Mahi with Thai style Lemongrass & peanut Salsa).

Pla Thord Yam Takhai (Crispy fried Mah-Mahi with Thai-style lemon grass and peanut salsa)

Then for the dessert, the “Khao Niew Ma Muang” or the All-time favorite Thai Mango & sticky rice with coconut sauce
