- One killed, another injured in Davao City prayer house
A 65-YEAR-OLD woman was killed and her 73-year-old sister sustained injuries after a pre-dawn fire struck a residence used as a prayer house along Aurora Street in Barangay 33-D, Poblacion on Friday, Nov. 7.
According to the Davao City Police Office report, the fire razed the house belonging to the “The Loved Flock” group at approximately 4:58 a.m.
One of the victims, the 65-year-old, was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) at around 6 a.m. The second victim remains under observation at the facility.
Personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Central 911, and Barangay Fire Fighter Volunteers immediately responded to the scene.
The fire was placed under control at 5:25 a.m., and firefighters declared a fire-out by 5:44 a.m.
Fire Investigator FO1 Eunelle Jun U. Mabale of the C.B. Bangoy Sr. Fire Station said they are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
The BFP reported that the structure, a house located at 47 Aurora Quezon Street, sustained approximately 60-70% damage. The estimated cost of the damage is placed at P350,000. Only one family was affected by the incident.
DCPO investigators PEMS Felipe Tiu Jr. and PCMS Ritchie Paul C. Lozano were dispatched to the scene along with the mobile patrol to conduct an ocular investigation and assist the Bureau of Fire and Protection XI.
