THE DAVAO City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) is bracing for the expected 80,000 daily passenger influx for the upcoming All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day (Undas) observance.
Speaking at the Davao Peace and Security press briefing on Wednesday, Oct. 22, DCOTT manager Aisa Usop said they are expecting a significant surge starting this week.
“We are expecting the influx of passengers to reach 1,000 to 1,500 bus trips a day or more, which is equivalent to 50,000 to 80,000 passengers a day,” Usop stated.
“We expect the passenger influx at the DCOTT terminal to possibly start this week—Friday, Saturday, Sunday—because most people have already filed for leave.”
Security culture and baggage reminders
To ensure a seamless travel experience, Usop reminded the public to strictly adhere to the city’s security ordinances, emphasizing the “culture of security.”
“Please do not bring all your belongings, as they might be left behind,” she advised. “We strictly implement the ordinance against leaving baggage or items unattended, whether inside the terminal or along the bus drive and path.”
Usop warned that security personnel would confiscate any unattended baggage and turn it over to the police. As a result, the travelers could experience inconvenience and delay as they attempt to retrieve their items.
