- Final missing person from Asik-asik Falls incident found
THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) reported that all eight individuals reported missing after the Asik-asik Falls incident have been accounted for after the body of a 13-year-old girl was recovered on Saturday morning, Sept. 20.
The deceased was identified as alias Akisha, a resident of County Homes Subdivision in Barangay Cabantian, Buhangin District.
Her body was found along the riverbank in Purok 5, Barangay Riverside, Calinan District, at around 9:20 a.m. over the weekend.
According to a police report, a resident and a barangay councilor noticed a dog frantically digging in the sand. Curious, they approached the animal to see what it was trying to pick up.
To their horror, they found a body in the advanced stage of decomposition, prompting them to contact the Calinan Police Station immediately.
The victim’s mother, alias Vanessa, arrived at the scene and confirmed that the body belonged to her daughter. Meanwhile, the remains have since been brought to the Angel Funeral Parlor in Calinan for proper disposition.
On Sept. 14, a group of Davao residents who went swimming at Asik-Asik Falls was stranded when the river suddenly rose due to the heavy downpour. The surge swept seven individuals, which immediately kick-started a search and rescue. The area has been declared a protected area, which prohibits recreational activities like swimming.
