THE ACTING director of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) told criminals to “fear and worry” and consider leaving the city while he’s at the helm.

Speaking to reporters in an interview on Saturday, July 19, Colonel Mannan C. Muarip.

Muarip stated that there is “ample space” for criminals who continue to roam freely in Davao City – implicitly referring to jail cells.

“Perhaps they know and recognize my name. They hear my name, so hoping that they will listen,” Muarip said. “And then, if there are any illegal activities ongoing here, they should stop. Or, if they can’t stop yet, they can temporarily leave Davao City so that Davao City will become even more peaceful if they leave.”

He added a direct warning to those who remain: “And if they are still here, continuing their operations, then the police will do the things that are necessary for their criminal activities to be stopped, if there is any still. So, we are studying all of that.”

Muarip highlighted that criminals involved in offenses such as theft, rape, drug-related activities, and those causing disturbance in the city will inevitably face imprisonment.

He affirmed that the Davao City Police Office’s efforts to track down and apprehend lawbreakers will be relentless.

The DCPO chief further noted that, for now, the city’s jails still have sufficient capacity and are open to accommodate those who will be arrested.
