PERSONNEL of the Sasa Police Station (PS4) rescued two 12-year-old boys following a viral video showing them hanging onto the back of a moving wing van truck along a public road in Panacan, Davao City, police said.
The rescue operation was conducted on the morning of Nov. 2, 2026, under the direct supervision of acting station commander PMAJ Raymundo B. Bacera Jr.
The incident gained public attention after a video posted by a concerned citizen on the local Facebook page Davao Idiot Drivers 2.0 showed the two minors from Barangay Ilang engaging in the hazardous stunt on the afternoon of Oct. 30.
Upon receiving the report, PS4 personnel initiated follow-up operations and located the two boys around 9:30 a.m. in Panacan.
The rescued minors were brought to the Sasa Police Station alongside their parents for initial counseling.
The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) subsequently facilitated their turnover to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) for appropriate intervention programs, parental guidance measures, and protective assistance.
DCPO director PCOL Peter B. Madria commended the swift response of the station personnel and reminded parents of their critical responsibility in keeping their children safe.
“We remind all parents and guardians to exercise close supervision over their children and actively ensure their safety at all times. Hazardous acts like street exhibitions on moving vehicles pose grave risks to young lives,” Madria stressed.
He emphasized that providing for children’s basic needs is not enough, noting that parents must also take full responsibility for their upbringing through active guidance, discipline, and constant supervision.
