THE POLICE Regional Office (PRO) XI recorded 14,126 ordinance violations during an eight-day intensified operation to curb community-level infractions and bolster public order from Oct. 12 to Oct. 20.

Under the leadership of acting regional director PBGEN Benigno L. Guzman, regional law enforcers penalized 8,984 individuals with fines, while 5,142 violators received formal warnings or were released after processing.

General local ordinance enforcement accounted for most of the citations, totaling 9,244 cases.

Traffic Code violations led the tally with 8,973 reported cases, followed by 191 citations for public urination, littering, and improper waste disposal.

Simultaneously, PRO XI reported 4,882 citations under its operational “Safer Cities Initiatives,” targeting public nuisances and minor offenses.

Among these were 2,490 cases of public drinking and smoking; 1,535 cases of half-naked individuals roaming public streets; 820 minors caught violating local curfew laws; 36 violations of local quiet-hour and karaoke regulations; 29 infractions involving illegal wearing of face coverings or balaclavas in public areas; and one obstruction cited under road clearing enforcement

“PRO XI continues to strengthen the enforcement of local ordinances in coordination with local government units and stakeholders to ensure compliance with community regulations and prevent activities that compromise public order and safety,” the PRO XI statement said.
