THE PHILIPPINE Football Federation (PFF), in collaboration with the Davao-South Regional Football Association (DRFA), conducted its first B Diploma Coaching Course at the Kota Study Center, Davao City, on Oct. 21, bringing higher-level coaching education and strengthening football development in Mindanao.

Running until Oct. 27, the educational program drew qualified coaches from across Mindanao and gave them opportunities to improve their coaching competencies and gain more expert knowledge.

During a lecture, PFF head of coach education Ariston Carpio Bocalan said that coaching has no guarantee of success but is a confirmation of professional competence.

The course objectives and outcomes are to improve understanding of the 11v11, 8v8, and 5v5 games on technical and tactical levels.

This requires the participating coaches to study the latest trends in the game and develop an adaptable expertise in football-related topics (fitness, psychology, analysis, and management).

They will advance to the A Diploma and Pro Diploma once they have finished the B Diploma Coaching Course.

More than just supporting the grassroots development of football, the event also aims to empower local coaches who play crucial roles in the football industry of the Philippines.

PFF offers coaching pathway tiers ranging from E all the way to A and Pro, which cover basics, grassroots, advanced coaching, and other important topics. Online classes are also conducted via online platforms at lower levels.

Other specialized and continuing courses include goalkeeping, futsal, and beach soccer.

As of 2026, the Philippines has 196 licensed coaches at level B, 91 at level A, and two professional-level licensed coaches.
