THE LAND Transportation Office Region XI reported collecting over P120 million in total fines for the first nine months of 2026 from 72,000 traffic violations in Davao Region this year.
Speaking at the Davao Peace and Security Press Corps media briefing at The Royal Mandaya Hotel on Wednesday, Oct. 14, LTO XI regional director Atty. Ernesto Raphael Robillo disclosed that the agency logged 72,133 apprehensions issued through traffic adjudication tickets (TOPs).
Of the total figures, 52,982 cases resulted in paid fines, generating ₱120,298,222 in revenue.
Meanwhile, approximately 62,000 represented settled cases, 982 cases were dismissed after motorists submitted valid justifications, and nearly 10,000 apprehended drivers have yet to settle their violations.
According to Robillo, handled cases increased by 4.25 percent compared to the 59,580 cases recorded during the same nine-month period in 2025.
Breakdown of major violations
Violations under Republic Act No. 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code of the Philippines, accounted for the vast majority of offenses at 48,581 cases.
“These included driving without a valid driver’s license, using fake identification cards or driver’s licenses, operating vehicles with only a student permit without proper authorization, and using unregistered vehicles on public roads,” Robillo said.
Special road safety laws also saw thousands of citations:
- Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009 (RA 10054): 11,951 riders were cited for failing to wear standard protective helmets.
- Seat Belts Use Act of 1999 (RA 8750): 9,223 motorists were apprehended for non-compliance.
The LTO reiterated that joint operations alongside the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and local traffic management offices will remain relentless to ensure strict adherence to traffic laws across the region.
