DAVAO City 1st District Councilor Luna Acosta condemned what she described as a “politically motivated” impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte and the issuance of a subpoena to Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte.
According to Acosta, this happened during his guest appearance at the Davao Peace and Security Press Corps media briefing held at The Royal Mandaya Hotel on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Acosta estimated that this move is a way to destroy the forces that support VP Sara.
He added, ” No wonder his support for the vice president is being targeted in the city by issuing a subpoena to Mayor Baste Duterte, regardless of where all the mayors are also in charge as procurement officers in some individual areas.
“So, they are putting politics into the work of acting… if there are documents they would like to see, I’m sure there are documents, everything they would like to see, the City Hall is very open, everything our records here are available for anyone to see. But if you say they are the masterminds of corruption, that is not true; that is their way of playing into the politics of this impeachment,” Acosta explained.
The councilor also called on the public, especially the Davaoeños, to open their eyes to the real motive behind these events.
“I hope all Davaoeños can see what they are trying to do, that they are destroying our Mayor, they are destroying Davao City,” Acosta concluded.
