THE PHILIPPINE Army has deployed the entire 67th Infantry Battalion (67IB) across key areas of concern in Maguindanao del Sur to ensure peaceful and secure operations for the upcoming 2026 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE).
The battalion was officially integrated into the operational area of responsibility (AOR) of the 601st Infantry Brigade during a send-off ceremony held on Monday, Sept. 7, led by 601st Brigade commander BGEN Gremel B. Brual.
Troops from the 67IB are positioned to establish tactical posts and maintain heightened security across critical municipalities, including Datu Piang, Shariff Aguak, and Ampatuan.
During the send-off ceremony, BGen. Brual reminded the deployed soldiers of their mandate to remain non-partisan while maintaining human rights standards and operational discipline.
“Your duty is not only about security, but also about creating a safe and peaceful environment where our countrymen can freely express their right to vote,” Brual told the troops. “Perform your duty with discipline, integrity, and concern for our citizens.”
The deployment forms part of joint security preparations alongside the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to safeguard voters, electoral boards, and polling centers across BARMM.
The 601st Brigade confirmed it will maintain multi-agency coordination with local government units and community stakeholders to mitigate potential election-related violence and secure a free, orderly electoral exercise.
The 67th Infantry Battalion is the second Battalion from the 10th Infantry Division that was deployed for the BARMM elections.
