VICE PRESIDENT Sara Duterte accused the Marcos administration and security agencies of state-funded surveillance, declaring zero trust in Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla and the police force.
In an official statement released by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) on Saturday, Sept. 5, Duterte pointed to remarks made by Remulla as proof of ongoing state intelligence operations directed against her.
Remulla previously stated that law enforcement authorities knew of the Vice President’s whereabouts on the night the Quezon City Regional Trial Court issued the arrest warrant, but chose not to immediately execute the order.
“The words of Secretary Jonvic Remulla seem to confirm the documents we have long held regarding harassment and surveillance operations by the Philippine National Police and other government agencies against me,” Duterte said in Tagalog.
The Vice President questioned the allocation of government funds for tracking a sitting official and criticized authorities for approaching her family members.
“Since you already knew where I was, an important question remains—why did you still need to go to my mother and children?” Duterte asked, alleging the action was meant to “frighten and intimidate” her family.
Duterte further explained why she opted to post bail rather than physically surrender to demonstrate her legal stance on the court’s jurisdiction. She claimed authorities could not guarantee her safety while in custody.
“We have no trust in you, Jonvic Remulla, and in the police who blindly obey a corrupt government led by Marcos,” Duterte stated.
The exchange came shortly after Duterte posted a total bail of ₱ 360,000 before the Quezon City RTC Branch 98 on Saturday morning to address three counts of grave threats filed against her.
Meanwhile, Secretary Jonvic Remulla said in an interview with national media that the police acted with professionalism in deference to the Office of the Vice President.
“The PNP (Philippine National Police) accorded her all the respect her position deserves,” he said in a report by the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
