DAVAO City has officially been named the second-safest in the Philippines by the 2026 World Travel Index released this April.

With a safety score of 79.22, Davao City trails only Dumaguete (82.28) in the national rankings, outperforming other major hubs including Makati, Baguio, and Puerto Princesa.

In a statement released Tuesday, April 14, Col Peter Bauzon Madria, Davao City Police Office director, hailed the ranking as a reflection of the city’s unique “culture of security” and the strong synergy between the police and the public.

“This achievement is a testament to the power of unity, collaboration, and shared responsibility among all sectors of our community,” Madria said. “Public safety is not the sole responsibility of the police—it is a collective effort.”

The DCPO chief emphasized that while law enforcement has been aggressive in crime prevention strategies, the milestone would not have been possible without the vigilance of the residents.

He noted that the “active participation of every Davaoeño” in reporting incidents and supporting peace initiatives has been the backbone of their operations.

Despite the high ranking, Madria assured the public that the DCPO will not become complacent.

He pledged to enhance existing security measures to ensure the city remains a “resilient and progressive” destination for both residents and tourists.

“Let us continue working together—hand in hand—to preserve the culture of security and uphold the standard of excellence that defines our beloved city,” Madria concluded.
