AN ALL-FEMALE squad from the 27th Infantry Battalion teamed up with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) for a joint seaborne patrol in the coastal waters of Davao del Norte on April 10, 2026.
The operation, centered in the waters off Purok Lapu-Lapu, Barangay San Pedro, was led by 2nd Lieutenant Rolen G. Luzong and 2nd Lieutenant Hennalyn Grete C. Sano of the 27IB.
They worked in close coordination with Lieutenant Junior Grade Marjorie M. Buera, station commander of the Coast Guard Station in Davao del Norte.
The patrol covered several key coastal areas, including the barangays of Carmen and JP Laurel.
According to the 27IB, the mission was designed to reinforce maritime security and demonstrate the military’s commitment to safeguarding coastal communities against potential threats.
By fielding an all-female unit for the seaborne mission, the battalion highlighted the evolving role of women in front-line security and maritime law enforcement operations within the region.
