EIGHT members of a demolition team were apprehended by Talomo Police (PS3) after they were allegedly caught stealing personal belongings during an operation at Lastima Compound, Matina Crossing, Barangay 74-A, on March 6.

Investigation revealed that at around 7:30 a.m., PS3-Talomo personnel, led by commander Maj. Genesis P. Oriel, along with other units, were deployed to secure the implementation of a writ of possession and special order of demolition under DARAB Case No. XI-1973.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., police observed several demolition team members allegedly taking items and personal belongings from the structures subject to the operation.

Upon inspection, authorities recovered copper wires, jackets, and assorted clothing from the suspects’ bags.

The identities of the eight suspects are being withheld pending the filing of theft charges before the prosecutor’s Office.

Oriel reminded all people involved in such operations to strictly observe the law and respect private property.

“We are here to ensure that the implementation of the demolition is conducted in a fair, orderly, and lawful manner. Our presence is to maintain impartiality and prevent any untoward incidents,” Oriel said. “I strongly warn everyone involved not to take advantage of the situation. Anyone found violating the law will be dealt with accordingly.”

He further reiterated the police’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and properties of all individuals during government operations.
