  • Late-night blaze displaces 22 families

FLAMES quickly spread and gutted 11 residential structures and displaced at least 22 families in Purok 7, Barangay 37-D on Wednesday night, Feb. 18.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Davao reported that the blaze began at approximately 9:23 p.m.

It quickly escalated to a second alarm by 9:50 p.m., as the fire spread through the densely populated residential area, covering an estimated 900 square meters.

Firefighters battled the flames for over an hour before declaring the situation under control at 10:50 p.m.

The “fire out” was officially recorded at 11:18 p.m.

According to initial reports from the BFP and local disaster officials, 11 houses were classified as “totally damaged.”

Fortunately, there were zero reported injuries or fatalities resulting from the incident.

Barangay officials and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) are currently coordinating to provide immediate relief and temporary shelter to the affected residents.

The cause of the fire and the property damage cost remain under investigation.
