THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) seized ₱305,059 worth of smuggled cigarettes in a city-wide crackdown from Jan. 15 to 16, 2026.

Col. Mannan Caracas Muarip, DCPO chief, said police units conducted nine coordinated operations across various districts.

The crackdown targeted street-level resellers and distribution points in public markets and commercial hubs, effectively disrupting the local supply chain for illicit tobacco.

The operations were anchored on the DAVAO Framework —Discipline, Action, Virtue, Accountability, and Order:

Muarip underlined that the campaign extends beyond simple law enforcement.

“Illicit trade robs the government of vital revenues, endangers public health, and fuels other criminal activities,” Muarip said.

“These successful operations demonstrate DCPO’s unwavering resolve to protect our community and uphold the rule of law,” he added.

The DCPO assured the public of continued operations against illegal activities through strengthened inter-agency cooperation and community partnerships, reinforcing Davao City’s peace and order reputation.
