Barangay chairman, the cohort arrested in an anti-drug operation in Sulop

AN INCUMBENT barangay captain and his alleged cohort were arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by multiple law enforcement units on Monday evening, Dec. 15, 2025, in Purok 7, Barangay Roxas, Sulop, Davao del Sur. 

Operatives from the Davao del Sur Provincial Office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, and the Sulop Municipal Police Station coordinated the operation, which took place at around 10:15 p.m.

According to Nephi Noli Dimaandal, the spokesperson of PDEA XI, the barangay captain, identified by his alias Kap, 36, was apprehended after selling one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu worth ₱8,000 to a PDEA operative acting as a poseur-buyer. 

His cohort, identified as Dionisio, was likewise arrested during the operation.

Seized from the suspects were an additional four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing approximately 23 grams, with an estimated street value of ₱156,400, along with the marked buy-bust money used in the operation.

The arrested suspects are currently under the custody of PDEA XI. 

They will face charges for violations of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
