THE 10TH Infantry Division (10ID) marked a dual milestone during its Monday flag-raising ceremony on March 2, 2026, launching National Women’s Month and celebrating the promotion of 23 military officers.
The event, held at the division’s headquarters in Barangay Tuboran, featured the formal donning of ranks for four new majors and 19 new captains.
Major General Alvin Luzon, commander of the 10ID, presided over the ceremony, noting that the new insignias represent a “symbolic affirmation of greater responsibility, higher expectations, and deeper commitment to service.”
Coinciding with the start of Women’s Month, the ceremony highlighted the evolving roles of women within the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Reading a message from AFP Chief of Staff Romeo Brawner Jr., Luzon stated, “Throughout our history, women have served with courage and dedication… Today, they serve across all branches and specialties of the AFP: as commanders, pilots, sailors, intelligence officers, medical professionals, peacekeepers, and technical experts.”
Luzon further emphasized the 10ID’s commitment to an inclusive environment.
Luzon reminded the newly promoted officers that their advancement is a call to higher ethical standards. “Wear it with humility, lead with courage, and serve with honor,” he urged.
The 2026 Women’s Month theme, “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” —where “WE” stands for “Women and Everyone”—was a central focus of the morning’s proceedings. The 10ID’s leadership noted that the theme reinforces the necessity of collaboration and mentorship across all ranks to achieve true progress.
